Happy Anniversary....Nikki and Nathaniel

Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Clark

The Clarks and the Darwins are no strangers to each other; our children (Nathanel and Nikki) went to the same school and church. As they became teenagers, Nathaniel came to our house quite a bit but just as a friend. They even went on church trips together but just as friends.
After graduating Nathanel went to Milsaps College, Northeast and Ole Miss where he majored in English. He then went to California.

After graduating Nikki attended Northeast for one year, then on to Mississippi State to major in business.  She decided to try out for the Pom Squad at MSU and made it... I didn't believe her, but that is another story right there. Later Nikki went back to get her teaching certificate through Ole Miss.

Nikki was working in Nashville and Nathaniel was in California working. One day she informs us she is gonna fly out to California to see Nathaniel. We should have known something was up 'cause Nikki doesn't like to fly. We even said WHY!  Next thing we knew Nathaniel was flying into Nashville to see her. We were beginning to catch on. It wasn't long after that Nathaniel decided to go back to Ole Miss and get his law degree. Of course, they started dating more than ever then.
It was a few weeks before Christmas and Nathaniel ask Sammy if he could take Nikki off our hands ripe old age of 30. Sammy could not wait to tell me, and there again I had to keep my mouth shut. Over the years Sammy had bought me rings and I had told  the girls when they married they could have one. Nikki being the first born, I gave Nathaniel my engagement ring Sammy had given me (Same setting newer stone, the old stone is somewhere at Iuka Middle School football field on the "old" home side.  If found return to Teresa Darwin) to give to her. He took it and had it all shined up. We had no idea when he was gonna give it to her. We always have Christmas at my parents' house on Christmas Eve, so when we left our house Nikki was in the shower and that meant we had to wait on her. Little did we know what was taking place while we waited.
Here's how it was told to us.
Nathaniel:  (hollers for Nikki to came down the stairs)
Nikki: (comes down dressed but with a towel wrapped her head)
Nathaniel:  I need you to come outside; I need hand (he has the hatch up and pretending to work on something. He tells Nikki to look up on the console and bring him a wrench. The ring is sitting on the console).
Nikki:  (just a mouthing) then screams CLARK!!!!!!
They come busting in at my parents' house and we all screamed.
I think the next day we start planning the wedding and almost a year later they married. We had loads of fun picking out stuff for the showers and the wedding, and shopping for just the right wedding dress. Sammy was in charge of the band, again.

All the festivities began on a Thursday night before the wedding on Saturday. Sandra and Scotty Skinners and their daughters had everyone to come to Rebecca and Adam Gray's house for a barbecue dinner.
The rehearsal dinner was held at Shiloh Falls in Corinth. Cheryl and Richard (Nathaniel's parents) did a great job putting this all together. The best part about both of these get togethers was the fun, delicious food, and fellowship.

These pictures below are their "save the date" pictures.

Brooke Nunley filled in for Nikki as the bride at the rehersal and there were more laughter coming than going.
