Happy Mother's Day!
Let us go
ahead and assure you that this won’t be half as entertaining as Mama’s posts
usually are. But this blog is really special
to Mama and we are at a point where the best thing about any holiday is the
family and friends that we have to share it with. So, what better way to tell Mama HAPPY
MOTHERS DAY than on her blog! (No, Mama, we didn’t read any of the stories you
have started writing, we like being surprised just like everyone else!)
So, at this
point last year we were both celebrating our first Mother’s Day. Goodness, what a mix of emotions. On one hand we had so much joy, celebrating
our first Mother’s Days and on the other hand feeling so much pain that Mama
and Daddy were celebrating another Mother’s Day without Jay and now without
Kinsley. And, of course, our hearts
ached because we miss them so much, too. So that weekend, Daddy decided he wanted
Mama to go to dinner and a movie with him.
Mama had said she really wasn’t quite up to it yet but, of course, she
agreed. The funny thing is, Daddy had told several of us by then that he was
really at peace with Kinsley’s death. He
said that he missed her like crazy, but he wasn’t angry about it. He said that he was so at peace with it that
he almost felt guilty about it. So anyway,
Mama and Daddy went to their “nice” dinner at Five Guys and on to a movie…there
is (of course) a lot more to that story, but I’m sure Mama will share that at
some point! Little did any of us know, but our lives would be flipped upside
down, again, a couple of weeks later.
A long year brings
us to today. Happy Mother’s Day, Mama! We
love you and appreciate you more that you can ever possibly imagine. You have loved us on days when it was really
easy to love us and on days when we really made it hard. Our entire lives you
have been teaching us what it is like to be an incredible mother. It’s not something we can do in a day or in a
weekend, but something that we will be working at for the rest of our
lives. You have taught us what it is to
have courage and to not give up. You have
been an inspiration to our entire family.
There have been days when we just didn’t know if we could get through
all of this and God let you be our strength.
You have fought an uphill battle and we have watched your confidence
grow and are so unbelievably proud of you! Thank you for being a
great mother to us and a great mother to our friends!
We love you,
Nikki and Beth
Great job, Niki and Beth. Mrs. Teresa, I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day.
